Students are introduced to sailing by way of the Optimist Dinghy or Sunfish. This class covers the fundamentals of sailing terminology, understanding the wind, sail trim, points of sail, steering, tacking, gybing, how to rig and de-rig, boat care, crew responsibilities, seamanship and safety including capsize avoidance/recovery and “rules of the road.”

  • Ideal for ages 8-15
  • Dry land and on-the-water instruction

Scholarships are available to full-time Rochester City School District Students ages 8-17. Please fill out our Scholarship Application if you or your child would like to apply.
