This class is designed for youth aged 14 to 16 to develop the leadership skills, knowledge, and experience needed to become a future Junior Sailing Instructor for Roc City Sailing or pursue other community work positions. Participants will learn leadership, job, and sailing instructor skills by assisting with RCS sailing programs under the guidance of the RCS sailing instructor team. Roc City Sailing also provides coaching and support to help participants earn certifications in first aid, boating safety and other sailing related areas depending on their interests.
There is no cost for the Counselor in Training (CIT) class but limited positions (one CIT per class week) are awarded based on previous sailing and related experience and the ability to learn and work with youth and adults. A CIT class runs in parallel with any of our learn to sail classes (typically Mon to Fri, 8 am to 5 pm)
