Youth Beginner Sailing Class

Description

Designed for sailors ages 8-17, this class introduces the fundamentals of sailing using Optimist Dinghies or Sunfish. Students will learn key sailing skills, including:

• Sailing terminology & understanding the wind
• Sail trim & points of sail
• Steering, tacking, and gybing
• Rigging, de-rigging, and boat care
• Crew responsibilities & seamanship
• Safety, including capsize avoidance and recovery
• “Rules of the road” for sailing

Instruction includes both dry-land lessons and on-the-water practice to build confidence and competence in a fun, supportive environment. Scholarships & Financial Assistance
