Anti-Harassment and Anti-Bullying

RCS is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all individuals, including volunteers. This policy outlines our stance against harassment (including sexual harassment) and bullying and provides guidelines for addressing such behavior. RCS considers harassment and bullying (including cyberbullying) unacceptable and will not tolerate it under any circumstances.

This policy applies to all volunteers, staff, board members, and participants involved in our organization’s activities, events, and programs.

Harassment is unwanted conduct that violates an individual’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.  Verbal harassment includes threats, intimidation, offensive comments, slurs, or jokes related to race, gender, sex, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.  Physical Harassment includes unwanted physical contact and/or invasion of personal space after being asked to stop.

Bullying is repeated, aggressive behavior intended to harm, intimidate, humiliate or control another person.  Cyberbullying is harassment or bullying through electronic communication channels (email, social media, etc.).

Any employee, volunteer, or participant who feels that (s)he is a victim of harassment or bullying should immediately report that matter to a member of the board of directors.  RCS will investigate all such reports as confidentially as possible.  Adverse action will not be taken against an employee who reports or participates in the investigation of a violation of this policy.

Violations of this policy will not be permitted and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, volunteer status or other appropriate measures.
